'Joe'
|
Known as Joe, this gorgeous old man is owned by Julie and George and was Julie's 'breakthrough' horse. A former Grade B showjumper, he came to Julie oodles of years ago and they've gone from prelim to advanced in competition, training up to Inter I at home. A character through and through, he's a proper princess, never gallops anywhere (thats what extended trot is for surely!) and is the only one capable of deciding which paddock he'll graze in today thankyou! (And if you leave the yard for a competition without him, be prepared to be ignored for a couple of days!)
Still having great fun hacking, schooling (every now and again) and with the odd party (thats DCUK speak for Joe at an affiliated competition!!!), he also looks after Julie's (nearly) daugher-in-law, Charlotte, with prelim and novice dressage and combined training (although given the chance he'll make the most of any chance to throw in a few flying changes - oh and why go in a straight line when he can go sideways so well!). Joe's also recently begun helping DCUK Head Girl, Kate, tackle pure dressage (rather than eventing, we're trying to convert her!!) with affiliated outings to Sissons - well done Kate, Joe did have a bit too much fun though!! Picture on the right taken in 2008 | ![]() |
'Joe' was memorably the smallest horse to compete at Hickstead Masters league and did extremely well at the Nationals. Semi-retired now, he will have a special place in Julie's heart as, without him, DCUK would probably never have happened.
Joe's fitness and youthfulness are supported by his feeding systems - we strongly believe in Simple Systems Ltd
