Day 3 Plan
Arrive, settle the horses (I've booked stables with Trudy)
1000 start please if you can.
Meet and greet/coffee and catch up
1040 to 1115 - test riding - please let me know which test you're riding and I'll judge as before in the indoor
Updates and reflection on what we've done thus far
1130 - 1230 Guest speaker - Session with Ros , a specialist in human sports massage and equine sports massage on how the 2 go hand in hand (excuse the pun!). We'll be using Stan (DCUK Crazy Diamond) as the equine guinea pig (somehow that English sounds terribly wrong!) and if Ros does need a human model then we would be wise to fight for places!
Update coaching plans - discuss how previous goals developed and plan next one
Rider fitness checks - running and steps
Dressage to music - do whatever you have had chance to create - whether its just a floorplan or the full test with music. Please remember your CDs too.
Optional extra (time allowing) assessing movement and discussion on how to improve what we have
Plan for next training day
Coaching achievement awards .... set your goal now (all will become clear!)
End and be on the road by 1630
Sun shines on winning riders
The Lincolnshire sun shone on the 5 winning riders of the Dressage Coaching UK grass roots coaching programme, when they arrived at Elms Farm Equestrian Centre on 8 June.
The competition, run by Just Dressage over the past 4 months yielded hundreds of entries, with the winners being plucked from 15 finalists; 5 places were for those with their own horse and one lucky reader won a place on the programme to ride DCUK’s foundation horse, ‘Joe’. The lucky readers were:
Michele Tomkin and Cruz from Buckinghamshire
Anita Drake (schoolmaster place) – with Joe – from Yorkshire
Kara Hardy and Kinny – from Lincolnshire
Bella Craven and Frank – from Cambridgeshire
Kate Turner and Zeta – from Stoke on Trent
And, Angela Green, whose horse very sadly developed medium term lameness just before the start of the coaching, so with much thought (and a lot of sadness), Angela withdrew, leaving us with 4 riders plus Joe.
Updates
24 June - Kara and Kinny have competed! Cracking 68% and winning rosettes at their local show - superb result.
24 June - Anita and Joe have worked together again, including a hack round Julie's little village - and then a coaching session on home turf.
